1) Backwash the filter
Backwashing your pool filter is an important part of regular maintenance. This process helps to remove debris, dirt, and other contaminants from the pool water.
To begin, turn off the pump and locate the backwash valve. This will be near the filter or at the side of the pool. Open the valve and turn on the pump to start the backwash. The water will travel through the system in reverse, pushing all of the collected dirt and debris out of the filter.
When you see the water turn clear, you can turn off the pump and close the backwash valve. Once this step is complete, you can move on to the next step: removing the filter cartridge. Locate the housing for the filter cartridge and unscrew the clamp to open it. Carefully lift out the filter cartridge and set it aside. Take care not to touch any of the fine pleats as they are sensitive to damage.
After taking out the filter cartridge, hose it down with a garden hose using a low-pressure setting. 2) Remove the filter cartridge
To remove the filter cartridge from your swimming pool filter, first locate the locking ring on the filter tank. Once you have located the locking ring, use a pair of pliers to loosen it. When the locking ring has been loosened, slowly twist it off and set it aside. Next, use two hands to carefully pull out the filter cartridge. Place the filter cartridge into the cleaning solution and allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes. If the cartridge has very dirty buildup, you can let it soak overnight.
After the cartridge has soaked, remove it from the cleaning solution and rinse it off with a garden hose. Allow the cartridge to dry completely before returning it to the pool filter housing.
5) Clean the housing
Once the filter cartridge has been removed and hosed off, it’s time to clean the housing. This is an important step in the filter cleaning process as it will ensure that your filter runs smoothly and efficiently when in use.
First, turn off the pump and disconnect the hose. Then, open the filter lid and inspect the interior of the housing.
